Terminator 2D: No Fate brings fans of the sci-fi classic an arcade (or 16bit, if you will) experience

Looking kind of like an SNES game that T2 fans might’ve wanted, but never got, Terminator 2D: No Fate is coming up this fall.

…but what we make

If you were a Terminator fan back when director James Cameron’s sequel dropped into theaters, you were treated to one of the best sci-fi flicks of all time. T2 improved on the original in just about every way, pitting Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800 against the Robert Patrick’s shape shifting killing machine, the T-1000.

While the movie was great though, one thing that it never really had was a great video game. Yes, there were games based on the movie, but none really hit the mark. An arcade light-gun offering was decent fun, but both the console and Game Boy releases… well let’s just say they missed the mark. Here we are decades later though, and Reef Entertainment might be ready to make up for T2’s shoddy gaming-past.

Just revealed yesterday, Reef’s Terminator 2D: No Fate is a side-scroller that will be set to serve up classic console/arcade action. The action will split its action between both the T-800 and Sarah Connor, with even some scenes where players will apparently field the future version of Sarah’s son (and leader of humanity’s resistance) John.

On top of that, fans can expect a “blending” of both movie-accurate and original action in the campaign, plus multiple endings. Makes sense, considering that there’s no fate but what we make.

Play as Sarah Connor and the T-800 through a variety of thrilling missions as they take on the T-1000 and try to put a stop to Skynet’s plans before the human race is annihilated. Lead the Resistance as John Connor in the future, fighting on the front lines as mankind’s only hope in the War Against the Machines. In this unique story blending iconic scenes from ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’ with original scenarios and multiple endings, humanity’s fate is yours to decide.

Reef Entertainment press release

Look for Terminator 2D: No Fate to hit the Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC on September 5th, 2025.
