Owlcat Games’ Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader brings CRPG action to Game Pass on Xbox and PC today.
Pass the Rogue Trader
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader launched about a year back for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, delivering fans of Games Workshop’s famed property a brand new role-playing experience. A CRPG done in the classic style by Owlcat Games, the title sent players into the mysterious Koronus Expanse as a Rogue Trader (hence the name), with a crew that reflected a good deal of the Warhammer 40K universe.
If you’ve been meaning to dive in, then you might want to check out Game Pass right now. Subscribers to Microsoft’s service on either Xbox Series X|S or PC will find the standard version of the game ready for them to download and play right now.
Players will take on the role of a Rogue Trader, a scion of an ancient dynasty of daring privateers who reign over their own trade protectorate and explore the fringes of Imperial space with the blessing of the Emperor Himself. By virtue of their Warrant of Trade, the Rogue Trader is endowed with privileges and power beyond imagination as well as the task of expanding the borders of the Imperium. At their disposal is a gargantuan voidship of immense strength and innumerable personnel ready to follow their leader without question. Show your subjects mercy or disdain, stay faithful to the Emperor or consort with the enemies of Humanity — the Rogue Trader’s every decision sends ripples across entire star systems, changing the in-game world and those who inhabit it.
Owlcat Games press release
While the above Game Pass version of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is the base version of the game, Owlcat hasn’t let things end there. With one already in the can, a second retail “major expansion” is coming up for the title, dubbed Lex Imperialis. In that pack, players will team up with a member of the Adeptus Arbites, taking part in the “collection of the Imperial Tithe”.
As for what’ll be included, fans will find “vast new areas to explore, as well as additional game mechanics, archetypes, and new horrors of the Immaterium”, according to Owlcat Games. There’s no release date yet for it, but the developer says it’ll be landing some time later this year.
