Aspyr’s latest retro title, Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles arrives today, bringing new options and a visual revamp.
The saga begins again, in side-scrolling fashion
As we mentioned earlier today in the Nintendo Download, Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles is as close to a ‘lost’ game as you’re probably going to get under the Star Wars umbrella. First released in 2000 for the PS1 and Dreamcast, the game sets players in the robes of some of the most familiar Jedi for a trip through parts of Episode 1’s story.
While it was released on the Game Boy Advance eventually though, that initial release was the last fans saw of the game. Even with the glut of classic Star Wars games that we’ve seen reborn in recent years, Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles remained bound to history. But if you’ve been itching to play the side-scrolling(ish) action game, you’re finally in luck.
In collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, Aspyr has finally dug the game back up, and re-launched it with a host of improvements. The result is a Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles that sports some visual upgrades, along with over 10 new playable heroes and both reforged control options and modes.
If you like what you saw there and are up for a trip through Episode 1, you’ve got some options. Priced in at $19.99 USD, game is out now as a digital purchase for the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and the PC (via Steam).
But hang on, because depending on how many of Aspyr’s other Star Wars titles you have, you might be interested in to the Star Wars: Prequel Pack. Included in that special bundle is Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles, along with the previously released Bounty Hunter, Republic Commando, and Episode I Racer.
The bundle is priced at $64.99 USD, and is out for the Switch, PS4, and PS5. You can also grab the Star Wars: Prequel Pack for the PC (via Steam) for $54.99 USD. Nope, there’s no Xbox bundling, though all of the above games should be available separately on Microsoft’s platform.
