Out now on PSVR 2, Starship Troopers: Continuum is bringing fans of the classic property back to the war on bugs.
It’s afraid
One of the more exciting virtual reality projects in recent months, Starship Troopers: Continuum has arrived for the PSVR 2. The game spins out of Sony Pictures Virtual Reality and XR Games, and brings the movie iteration of the iconic dark sci-fi novel to life in VR for the first time.
Fans can expect what looks to be plenty of callbacks to the film, including Casper Van Dien reprising his role as Johnny Rico, who’s now a general. That’s not to say that there won’t be plenty of new content though, as this isn’t a retelling of the property’s big screen outing. Instead players will find a horde of new and classic bugs, including boss battles against creatures like Tankers and Plasmas.
The action plays out across a single-player campaign that casts players as a powerful PsyCommander, controlling their own team. That’s not all though, as there’s also online co-op for up to three, and the title supports both automatic, and more realistic, manual reloads. The latter should up the immersion nicely.
Featuring Casper Van Dien reprising his role as the legendary ‘Johnny Rico’, Starship Troopers: Continuum is set 25 years after the Battle of Klendathu. The war between the Federation and the Arachnid is deadlocked, but the planet Janus-4 holds a secret that threatens to tip the balance of the war: The Continuum.
