An overhaul for PvP Battlegrounds is a part of Update 44 for The Elder Scrolls Online, which is out right now fort the PC and Mac.
Time to fight it out
Say what you like about it, but Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls Online just keeps on rolling. The game’s become a multiplier mainstay since its launch on the PC in 2014, and that doesn’t look like it’s a status that’ll be changing any time soon. At least, it won’t be changing this month, as Update 44 has arrived for the PC version of the game, and it’s packing some new features.
The main element to see a change here are the Player vs Player Battlegrounds, which traditionally brought three teams of players together to fight it out. Those battles will now be tightening up, offering two sided battles instead of three.
They’ll also be spread out across two tiers of action, with four on four and eight on eight. And did we mention that there are also seven additional maps, now available to play those pitched fights on? That should freshen things up nicely.
Now, don’t weep for the death of tri-team action just yet, because it might not be gone forever. Though the new paradigm seems here to stay for the foreseeable future, Bethesda says that the former quo might return periodically for “special mini-PvP events”. No, that’s not a certainty, but we imagine that if enough players want it, it probably stands a good chance of happening.
Also along with the above, Update 44 also brings two new companions to the game, with Tanlorin and Zerith-var.
Tanlorin is a scrappy High Elf who mixes Soul Magic with Dragonknight abilities, while the stoic Khajiit Zerith-var utilizes the power of Necromancy. At launch, you can acquire both new allies for free with an active ESO Plus membership or purchase them with crowns from the in-game Crown Store.
