Activision has unleashed a pair of blog posts, to fill players in on the finer points of what to expect from the new Modern Warfare III.
Blog is war
One of the biggest gaming events on the calendar, pretty much every year, is the release of the latest Call of Duty. This year’s will be likely no exception to that rule, with the launch of Modern Warfare III this month. The game represents the first time a CoD ‘sub-series’ has seen year-over-year sequels, and looks just as explosive as ever.
As usual too, there is quite a bit to the game, with the campaign being just a part. Multiplayer will probably be huge as it usually is, and the zombies mode is back for the first time in a “Modern Warfare”-branded title. Before we get further into it though, there are a few handy-dandy key points surrounding the launch that you should be aware of, if you’re looking forward to getting into any of the above.
Preload and Early Access Times:
- Preload of Campaign Early Access: November 1 at 10am PT, all platforms (PlayStation, Xbox, Battle.net, Steam)
- Campaign Early Access Go-Live: November 2 at 10am PT, all platforms
- Full Game Preload (including Multiplayer and Zombies): November 8, 10am PT, all platforms
- Full Game Launch Timing: The game will be fully live worldwide by 10pm PT on November 9 (full details on the blog)
Getting a little deeper now, both multiplayer and zombies modes will be stocked with play modes at launch, but there’s more to come. So basically, and from the sound of it, if you don’t see something at launch, hang on because it might be on the way. Activision says that fans can expect new modes to be added in post-launch, which will include “3v3v3 player modes all the way up to 32v32”.
If you’re wondering about multiplayer maps too, yeah there are gonna be lot of ’em. The new title will launch with a bunch of those classic Modern Warfare 2 maps, reborn for the modern age. There’ll also be a trio of Ground War maps, and a section of “the massive Urzikstan” map that’ll be available for play in War Mode. Also worth noting is that twenty five additional Modern Warfare III Operators will be coming up as well, bringing the playable count up to a chunky 90.
Now, we did mention two blog posts, and all that you saw above is just the tip of the spear in terms of what’s been revealed about the latest CoD. You can find more about “Pre-Season, Season 1, Campaign rewards and more” here, and get the full lowdown on multiplayer (and all that it entails), here.
