Trailer: Switchback VR takes The Dark Pictures fans on a virtual rollercoaster ride

Out just this week for the PSVR2, Supermassive Games’ latest is a trip through the blood-soaked first season of The Dark Pictures Anthology.

Speed demon

This horror shooter is set to take you through ancient temples, ghost ships, murder hotels and a whole lot more. Players will experience a terrifying world as they squeeze their way through the appropriately named ‘meat tube’ (caution for those with claustrophobia!) and persevere as they fight against the supernatural horrors aboard a WWII ghost ship. Discover otherworldly vampires and escape the horrifying World’s Fair Hotel with a sadistic serial killer out for blood!

Supermassive Games press release

While Switchback VR is an ‘on rails’ shooter, it does feature quite a few slick gameplay additions. So it might look like the player is just blasting away in that trailer, there’s much more to it.

The game makes use of the PSVR2’s eye-tracking, plus the PS5’s haptic feedback abilities to make the ride as bumpy as possible. That’s in addition to adaptive triggers, to make the game’s weapons feel different, and headset rumble that should have you quaking and shaking.

If you’re keen for another ride on the dark side, Dark Pictures: Switchback VR is out now on PSVR2.
