Horror returns to the PSOne era, with the very disturbing The Fridge is Red, from tinybuild and 5WORD Team. Check out the first look at it in action.
Polygonal terror
Day in and day out — the same monotonous dread on constant repeat. When Frank’s dead-end job can’t keep up with his ever-growing pile of unpaid bills, he takes up a side gig fixing household appliances for his neighbors. When one client drops off a strange red fridge, Frank finds himself perplexed and unable to fix it. He leaves it in his basement, where it exudes an evil, oddly life-like energy.
tinybuild press release
Spread out across 6 episodes, players will explore everyday locations turned evil in The Fridge is Red. Those include a neighborhood church, a highway, a cemetery, “and a cursed elevator descending to the true depths of hell.”
While The Fridge is Red is made to look like it’s an original PlayStation game, there was really nothing like it in that era. I guess Silent Hill might be the closest thing, but honestly it kind of looks like developer 5WORD Games outdid Konami’s classic in terms of freaky horror.
The Fridge is Red is set for release on the PC, via Steam, this September the 27th.
