Iconic Starship Troopers IP comes to life in Terran Command, complete with free timed-demo

Real-time strategy seems like the perfect home for Starship Troopers, a license that’s seen shockingly few tie-ins. Check out Terran Command.

Take command

Think about it for a second, doesn’t Robert Heinlein’s Starship Troopers seem like the perfect fodder for a video game? It sure does to me, and I’m not even a fan of the property itself.

But space marines vs gigantic bug monsters is just too good not to be used in some kind of game. And yet, it’s had what… 1 or 2 games? Well now you can add another, with Starship Troopers – Terran Command. The new game, from Slitherine Ltd and The Aristocrats, adapts the property with a real-time strategy engine, and looks pretty slick.

It’s also, as luck would have it, a part of Steam Next Fest. What’s that? Why, it’s Steam’s 6 day-long festival of demos… basically. During the period, you can get ahold of a bunch of free demos for upcoming titles, Starship Troopers included.

Here’s a lengthy look at the demo, which includes 2 scenarios to play:

Starship Troopers – Terran Command is a thrilling single player real-time strategy game set in the Starship Troopers movies universe. Take command of the Mobile Infantry and do your part in the war against the Arachnid threat in a 20 missions long story campaign. Build, develop and control your armies to strike an effective balance between tactical superiority and strength in numbers. Ensure that human civilization, not insect, dominates the galaxy now and always!

The demo for Starship Troopers – Terran Command is live now (October 1st) and is scheduled to be playable til Thursday, October 7th at 5pm UTC. So get your game-time in while the gaming’s good.
