Microprose’s action/strategy title Highfleet gets July 27th launch

The Highfleet is en route to PC’s this month, as Microprose has announced that the dieselpunk, strategic-action title will have a July 27th release.

Raise the fleet

One of the most interesting titles coming up from reinvigorated publisher Microprose, Highfleet finally has a both a release date and a deeper look. Both are welcome, since the game hasn’t had all that many updates since it was announced last year.

Highfleet is definitely action-tinged, though strategy looks to play a huge part in its arial battles. Basically, you’re in command of a capital ship in this one, and so fast-action is not possible. Instead, you’ll be “manoeuvring, targeting and carefully observing the strategic layer” of the game’s battles.

Sound cool? Check it out in action:

Some fireworks there, and a game that seems pretty darn unique too. But there’s more to this campaign that just fighting. Highfleet will task gamers will exploring the desert wastes of Gerat, engaging in diplomatic away missions with its peoples. On top of that, you’ll also have to manage your resources, which include “ships, men, fuel” and more.

Microprose promises a campaign filled with mystery as well, as you’ll have to uncover the past of the House of Sayadi. A civilization without a memory, you’ll be discovering “mysterious prophecies of a long-forgotten past” along with all the rest that Highfleet’s storyline has to offer.

Get ready to raise the fleet and set to task, as Highfleet hits the PC on July 27th.
