The new world order is here and Earth has been conquered. But out from under the heel of the invading alien forces, XCOM returns.
Looking great is XCOM 2, which continues the strategy gameplay of the first game in the rebirth series for the Mac and PC. The story picks up 20 years after the last game, and the defeat of human forces, which has resulted in the total domination of the globe by the invaders.
Of course, it wouldn’t be much of a game if that was it. XCOM is very much still in operation, and working to overthrow the alien forces. They’re going to need a little help though, as you’ll take up the reigns as commander once again, and lead missions, recruit new agents, and generally make life miserable for the outer-space set and their human armies.
You’ll never play the same level on a second play through either, as XCOM 2 has procedurally generated maps for you to wage your secret war across. Also new this time around is the psionic soldier, who can take it to the invaders through the power of the mind, and of course- a whole mess of new baddies.
XCOM 2 comes in both standard and Digital Deluxe Edition flavors, the latter of which contains the soundtrack and the Reinforcement Pack. That pack adds in three loads of content by the way, including Anarchy’s Children, Alien Hunters, and Shen’s Last Gift, all of which will become available separately or together for the PC throughout the Spring and Summer. If you’re a Mac App Store customer, you’ll get the add-ons as well, but as one pack only, which’ll be released this Summer.
