Platinum Games’ incredibly faithful take on the original Transformers cartoon show (YES!) hits stores and digital download today.
Oh how I’ve been looking forward to this one. Not only is Platinum Games behind it, and you know they know they’re way around an action title, but it’s as much of a love-letter to the original (and still the best) interpretation of the Transformers. And not only does the game look the part, thanks to the cel-shaded graphics, but it sounds the part too thanks to a voice cast that includes Dan Gilvezan as Bumblebee, Frank Welker as Megatron and Soundwave, Michael Bell as Sideswipe, Gregg Berger as Grimlock, and Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime.
And while we’ve heard Cullen add his heavy vocals to Prime in TV shows, movies and games aplenty, it’s been ages since the others were featured in anything that starred the boys from Cybertron. I have yet to play Devastation (fingers crossed that it delivers), but as a fan, it doesn’t get too much better than all that.
Oh, and Menasor! Good lord I don’t think I’ve seen the Stuntacons in anything other than on my toy shelves in… well, a long time.
Transformers: Devestation drives onto the Xbox One/360, PS4/3, and PC today from Activision.
