King Conan rides into battle one last time (maybe)

You can never count a good barbarian out, even when he tales a crown, and Conan is set for one monster battle when he rides into the think of it in King Conan: Wolves Beyond the Border #1.

Dark Horse Comics announces the return of a fan-favorite Conan creative team: Writer Timothy Truman, artist Tomás Giorello, and colorist José Villarrubia are set to expand on Robert E. Howard’s unfinished “Wolves beyond the Border” tale!

King Conan grows weary of the crown. When an old soldier visits him with talk of a cursed relic and rumors of Pictish tribes preparing a full-scale invasion on Aquilonia’s borders, Conan eagerly embarks on what could be his final adventure!

King Conan: Wolves beyond the Border #1 (of 4) is in stores December 23, 2015. Preorder your copy today at your local comic shop.

I’m a big fan of what Dark Horse Comics has done with Robert E. Howard’s warrior, and this latest installment of King Conan looks as down and dirty as all the rest. It’s a pretty simple formula when you consider what the Conan mythos is made up of, but it works like nobody’s business, and Dark Horse’s long-running franchise of books and series’ has way more often than not hit the mark.

King Conan, of course, is something slightly different than your average Conan tale. He’s taken the throne of Aquilonia in these stories, though there’s always an itch in his heart for the thrill of battle. That’s where this story once again finds the Cimmerian, not that you would have expected less.

While Wolves Beyond the Border #1 (of 4) won’t be out till just before Christmas though, you can actually start getting caught up right now. No less than 5 King Conan graphic novels currently grace the shelves, and you can dive right into trade paperback collections of The Scarlet Citadel, The Hour of the Dragon, The Phoenix on the Sword, and The Conqueror right this very second.
