Amazing X-Men #3 (Comics) Preview

It’s the Beast as you’ve never seen him before as he and the X-Men continue their crusade into the heart of the afterlife with one goal- return Nightcrawler to the land of the living.

This January, prepare for a Beast like you’ve never seen before in AMAZING X-MEN #3 – from the critically acclaimed creative team of Jason Aaron and Ed McGuinness! Split between heaven and hell the X-Men battle supernatural forces unlike any other – and they’re in way over their heads! Now, to shut down Azazel and his army of demons – Hank McCoy must unleash his animal side! Plus, the moment you’ve all been waiting for – the X-Men come face-to-face with Nightcrawler! Don’t miss the bombastic AMAZING X-MEN #3 on sale this January

Normally Hank McCoy is kind of a reserved dude… for a big blue furball anyway. It should be interesting to see him ‘hulk out’ a bit as it certainly seems like the character, with his set of powers and abilities, should be able to really do some damage at full tilt. And this is saving Nightcrawler we’re talking about here too- a character that’s one of the most classic of classic X-Men and someone who Hank’s pretty close friends with. If anything was going to make him get all that much more beastly, it’d be rescuing him.

And where the Amazing X-Men are rescuing him from isn’t exactly a walk on the beach either. This is pretty neat, throwback x-stuff here and I’m pumped to see what writer Jason Aaron does with the storyline from here. I remember when the X-Men went on all kinds of oddball adventures back in the ’80s and even the ’90s, when it wasn’t unusual to see them battling the forces of Hell or heading into deep space. For some reason, this kind of stuff just works for the characters too whereas in other books it’d just seem weird. Not that it doesn’t seem weird in X-Men comics, it’s just a fitting kind of weird for them.

Amazing X-Men #3 hits stands this January from Marvel Comics.
