The delay for Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze was sobering news; the wait may be long, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have some more crisp Donkey Kong gameplay teased for the time being.
This time Dixie Kong gets her time in the spotlight, and true to the roots of the Donkey Kong Country Trilogy she has all her old moves. A combination of two player action and single player is displayed. In single player, Dixie clings to Donkey Kong‘s back, helping him hover with the use of her hair. In two player mode, you can control her individually or hop onto DK‘s back helping a friend out in tight spots, or if you find it too hard to play on your own. That said, Dixie has always been a very user friendly character, with her handy hover ability that unlike Diddy Kong‘s, never runs out in midair.
Some stunning looking levels can be seen in the trailer as well; from dark and cloudy valleys, to icy ruins, to undersea shipwrecks, the game seems to have everything that made the Donkey Kong Country trilogy so appealing. The kind of levels that really immerse you into the game’s world, and make you appreciate what the developers created. So while February may be a long way away, so far the game looks to be well worth the wait.
