Donkey Kong Bananza to welcome in DLC challenges

Nintendo is aiming to bring fans back to Donkey Kong Bananza. The 3D platformer will be getting monthly challenges via DLC.

Monthly Kong

Not that Donkey Kong Bananza came out all that long ago, but Nintendo is continuing to add onto its endgame. That started with the recent downloadable-content drop, and will now continue with a series of monthly challenges.

Just to be clear though, those challenges won’t come with the base game. Instead, they’ll play off of the DK Island + Emerald Rush DLC. Players who have that content pack will find a fresh challenge every month. Well, as long as they’re completed the main campaign that is.

Assuming those two boxes are ticked off though, fans can dig into the extended action. And according to Nintendo, that will include shake-ups to the Bananza gameplay, with fixed winning conditions. So if you’re looking to extend your Donkey Kong Bananza experience, this might be your ticket.

Kong-tastic

Before we get into the details of the first offering, we feel like it might bear repeating that you’ll need to have the DK Island + Emerald Rush DLC to get in on the fun. Assuming you do have it though, you’ll get to engage with the monthly challenges that are on tap.

Those will start with Chip Fever, which will begin on October 28th at 1am, pacific time. Fans will smash their way across DK Island in the midst of the Challenge, to get themselves in-game statues of both Enguarde and Kong Bananza.

It looks like there’ll be a decent amount of time to complete these timed-events too, though you won’t have weeks. The aforementioned Chip Fever will come to a close on November 3rd at 11:59pm (pacific). Get the full details below.

During each event period, you can tackle a special Emerald Rush challenge that shakes up the usual formula by setting some fixed conditions, such as the Emerald Perks you can obtain from fossils and Banandium Gems. You’ll still be able to select your Emerald Perk from three choices, but the options presented to you will remain the same during each run.

Achieve the challenge’s target scores and you’ll be rewarded with certain character statues and Banandium Chips, which can be exchanged for standard statues. Don’t worry if you don’t get it the first time – you can retry as many times as you’d like within the event period!
