A fresh look at the Masters of the Universe film has been unleashed. If you’ve been wanting a better look at it, this one’s chock full.
Masters of the Universe, and box office
It’s been a good long while since Masters of the Universe made it to theaters. Outside of the 80s original, which bore little resemblance to the cartoon at the time, the decades since saw no second attempt at an adaptation. Fast-forward to the current year though, and that’s just what’s heading to theaters.
This June will see Masters of the Universe make its re-debut on the big screen, and Mattel and Amazon MGM Studios’ new take is actually looking pretty authentic. That’s not to say that it’s without some fan-caution though, as the film once again features Earth. That was the major issue with the Dolph Lundgren vehicle, for those who don’t remember.
Still, it doesn’t look like it lingers on our homeworld, a good thing for sure. Also good is that this new film looks like it includes way more of what makes He-Man, well, He-Man. Plenty of the periphery characters and elements were on display in the latest trailer, including Cringer.
Also included? The first time that we hear Skeletor’s voice. Played by Jared Leto, it’s a sharp contrast to the classic vocals of Alan Oppenheimer, as the main bad guy is now sporting an accent. Does it fit for him? That’s up to you.

Directed by Travis Knight, Masters of the Universe stars “Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Charlotte Riley, Featuring Kristen Wiig as the voice of “Roboto” with Jared Leto and Idris Elba”. Look for it to hit theaters on June 5th, 2026.
Along with the film in theaters, a video game adaptation of the original cartoon is coming up as well. Look for that to arrive in April.
