Hot Toys is reaching past the silver screen and into Marvel Comics for a stunning new take on the Silver Surfer.
Silver Surfer rides the cosmic waves into collections
Originally debuting way back in the 60s, Marvel’s Silver Surfer has been a mainstay as both villain and hero. Well, “villain” might be a stretch, as Norrin Radd would be classified as a reluctant one at worst. He originally volunteered to lead the cosmic being that is Galactus to new worlds in order to spare his planet of Zenn-La from being devoured. Can you really fault him?
In return for that too, he was granted a piece of the Power Cosmic. A piece of Galactus’ power was all it took to transform him into the gleaming Silver Surfer. And from there forward, he would surf the space ways as herald for his new master. At least, he would for a while, since everything changed for him when he found Earth. Breaking free from Galactus at that point, he would go on to become a cosmic-level hero in his own right.
With as many decades as the Silver Surfer has in the comics, he’s also had more than a handful of action figures. We can’t quite recall any of those being of the Hot Toys variety, though we could be wrong. The high-end toy-maker does have a way of getting to almost everything after all. Either way though, any streak that may or may not exist will end in 2027.
And that’s because retailer Sideshow has just revealed that the Surfer is on the way. And before you ask, no, he won’t be based on any film appearance.
The stunning Silver Surfer 1/6 Scale Collectible Figure by Hot Toys has a glossy silver-toned, electroplated finish that perfectly captures the essence of this cosmic character. Boasting a sleek silhouette and a silver-colored electroplated finish, the surfboard magnetically attaches to Silver Surfer’s feet, with a special design that allows for adjustment of the magnet position.
Featuring a new headsculpt and body design, this eye-catching piece has over 25 points of articulation for a variety of dynamic display options. The figure comes with 9 interchangeable hands featuring an electroplated finish, plus one pair of translucent purple effect hands. Thor’s divine hammer, Mjolnir, is also included so fans can recreate iconic scenes from the comics.
