Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition arrives on Switch 2

Bethesda’s latest Fallout title is finally here for a Nintendo console. Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition is out now for the Switch 2.

Originally released in November of 2015, Fallout 4 celebrated a full decade of wandering the wasteland last year. To mark the occasion, Bethesda issued Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition, a fresh launch that delivered a packed edition.

Now that same edition has landed on the Switch 2, looking to make the wasteland portable. This new release includes everything that made Fallout 4 the phenomenon that it was, and yes, that means all the expansions.

Loaded in with the base game, are all six official DLC add‑ons. For the uninitiated, those would be “Automatron, Wasteland Workshop, Contraptions Workshop, Far Harbor, Vault‑Tec Workshop, and Nuka‑World.”

But wait, there’s more. Not content with just that, Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition also offers “more than 150 pieces of Creation Club content”, according to the publisher. What’s that shake out to mean? Well, it means that this revision includes “fan‑favorite and previously unreleased weapons, quests, companions, cosmetics, and settlement options.”

Historic in a way too, Nintendo’s newest console plays host to the series for the first time with this launch. Actually, now that we think about it, this release represents the first time that any modern Fallout title has appeared on a Nintendo machine.

Nevertheless, fans of the series can finally take their favorite version of the wasteland out of the house, and on the road. And as mentioned, they can do so as of today, as the game is out now in both digital and retail box form. Though, just to be thorough, that physical release includes a big time caveat.

That’s because, while the digital release is self-explanatory, the boxed edition is just a “code-in-box”. Yep, we’re bummed at that notion too.
