Nintendo Download: Action from the Skies to Dark Ties

Kirby Air Riders gets an update in this week’s Nintendo Download, plus the Nickelodeon Splat Pack lands, and more.

This week’s Nintendo Download spotlight is cast on Kirby Air Riders. No, that’s not a new game, since the pink puff’s latest title came out last November. But the news is that it’s got a fresh update, and it’s actually a pretty chunky one.

Out now, this new update includes what sounds like a host of improvements. Chief amongst those is GameShare support, though GameChat is in there too. Sticking with the social theme, the download also includes 2 player support across “most online modes”. There’s a new mode as well, with Grand Prix, and Nintendo says there’s more as well, though what that might be isn’t detailed.

As for wholly new games, the Nickelodeon Splat Pack lands for the original Switch. A collected edition, the Splat Pack brings back a trio of Nick classics from the 8 and 16bit eras. Those games include GUTS, an adaptation of a classic Nick gameshow, as well as a pair of side-scrolling titles that feature some true fan-favorites. What might those be? Well, AAAHH!!! Real Monsters and Rocko’s Modern Life of course.

• Updates:
  • Kirby Air Riders – A free update has glided onto the Kirby Air Riders game! With newly-added GameShare¹ support, players on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch systems can now join you over local wireless, or online via GameChat², even if they don’t have the game! To add more to the mix, the game now also supports two players per Nintendo Switch 2 system in most online modes. Plus, if you’re playing Air Ride in the Paddock, you can now choose Grand Prix to compete in a series of races. Adjust how many courses and laps each Grand Prix will have and earn points based on your ranking – the player with the most points at the end wins it all.
