Hasbro heads to Hoth for new Star Wars The Vintage Collection reveals

Hoth isn’t the only locale that The Vintage Collection is taking advantage of, but a new Snowtrooper and General Veers are on the way.

Good timing for some Star Wars Hoth reveals

If you’re elsewhere in the world, then you might not know that the US is largely in the grip of an extreme cold spell at present. A good chunk of it anyway. So to say it’s timely for Hasbro to release some Hoth-centric action figure news, well we think it’s fairly on target.

Straight from the icy battlefield of The Empire Strikes Back, comes General Veers and a Snowtrooper Commander. Oddly enough, the latter is a character that we were just talking about. In any event though, both of these new figures will be included in Hasbro’s 3.75″ Star Wars: The Vintage Collection.

Both figures will also include a selection of accessories as well of course, and sport the usual articulation. It’s also notable that Hasbro has set the gigantic TVG version of the AT-AT as background for some of the shots. Could that mean that a reissue of that mighty vehicle is coming at some point? Nothing’s been announced as to that end, but it’s interesting to think about.

  • Leading the latest reveals is General Veers (AT-AT Commander), inspired by his appearance in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back™. This 9.5 cm figure features film-inspired deco, detailed sculpting and multiple articulation points at the head, arms and legs for dynamic display. Equipped with a blaster and removable helmet, General Veers represents the commanding officer who led the Empire’s AT-AT pilots during the assault on Echo Base, making this figure a key addition for Episode V collectors.
  • Joining him is the Imperial Snowtrooper Commander, also inspired by The Empire Strikes Back™. Designed in the same 9.5 cm scale, this figure includes premium deco, poseable articulation and character-inspired accessories, including a blaster rifle and pistol. Representing the elite forces deployed from AT-AT walkers during the Battle of Hoth, the Snowtrooper Commander allows fans to recreate one of the most iconic ground battles in the Star Wars saga.

A New Hope and the Prequels too

So we get a pair of Hoth action figures in this upcoming wave, but there is more to it. While the rest of the selection won’t feature characters from the second film in The Original Trilogy, it’s still pretty slick. And the figures included touch on a pair of films.

First up, there’s Greedo. A true classic of a Star Wars character, Greedo’s scene with Han Solo in the Cantina is easily one of the most memorable in the franchise’s history, and that’s saying a lot. This new version of the villain is looking great, and is just as timely as the Hoth figures, as far as we’re concerned. After all, it seems like he’d fit nicely into that HasLab Cantina.

Rounding out the original trilogy selections is Greedo, inspired by Star Wars: A New Hope™. This 9.5 cm figure captures the Rodian bounty hunter with film-inspired detailing, multiple articulation points and his signature blaster accessory. A defining presence in the Mos Eisley Cantina, Greedo remains one of Episode IV’s most recognisable characters and an essential addition to Vintage Collection displays.

Finally, rounding out the wave, is one Poggle the Lesser. Straight from the prequel era and Attack of the Clones, this villain was a Geonosian, and one of the big shots behind the droid army. We feel like the leadership of the villainous Confederacy has been massively neglected in TVC as well, so it’s particularly cool to see this figure coming.

Expanding the Vintage Collection into the prequel era, Poggle the Lesser arrives inspired by Star Wars: Attack of the Clones™. This 9.5 cm figure features film-inspired deco, detailed sculpting and multiple articulation points for display. Equipped with his character-inspired staff, Poggle the Lesser represents the Geonosian leader and high-ranking member of the Confederacy of Independent Systems who commanded droid armies during the Battle of Geonosis.
