Daedalic Entertainment’s upcoming PC strategy adaptation Star Trek: Voyager will have some serious possibilities.
The final frontier
Debuting in 1995, Star Trek: Voyager was the last television show of the era to take advantage of the Star Trek: The Next Generation time period. It was anything but similar to that series though, or Deep Space Nine for that matter. Instead, Voyager mixed in a little Lost in Space.
The show saw the title ship tossed into the Delta Quadrant. And for those who don’t know, that was more or less on the opposite end of the Milky Way from Federation Space. As such, successive seasons saw Captain Janeway and her crew negotiate the perils of this unfamiliar locale, as they made their way home.
But what if things didn’t go the way they did on TV? What if certain characters were lost in the ship’s travels, or killed, and what if the course of events went in completely different directions? Well, that’s the focus of Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown.
From developer Daedalic Entertainment, the upcoming PC game lets players chart their own journey back to Earth. And as we’ve hinted at above, that means that things may not go as expected. There might be tactics that work out even better than what Starfleet’s finest put into action.
Then again though, things might be a bit tougher too.
Set a course for the Voyager
Choices in Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown are the whole point of the game. Seeing how different options work out and facing down new challenges that arise, seems like it might make for a pretty slick time. For that matter, it might even make an adventure that most fans know pretty well, feel fresh.
If you’ve been itching to see what the game looks like in action, and you’ve yet to try the demo, we’ve got a trailer you’re going to want to check out. A much deeper look at what that gameplay will shake out to be is included there.
Fans will get a peek at the strategy that goes into dealing with a number of situations, as well as some of the radically different things that might occur.
Like what you saw there? While there’s no release date just yet for Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown, players can try the game out right now, via the aforementioned demo. That’s available on Steam as you read this.
