Fans of the Final Frontier have a Brande new Steam demo to dig into. A sneak peek at Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown is up now.
(Star) Trek to Steam
One of a few Star Trek games coming to PC soon, and looking pretty sharp, is Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown. The strategy title hails from Daedalic Entertainment and developer gameXcite, and recreates Voyager’s television journey. Kind of.
While it seems like there will be staple events and happenings, this strategic experience is a roguelike in nature. That’s to mean that it will play out differently every time you start a new adventure. And speaking of, those adventures will have the same goal no matter the course that takes fans to their climaxes. Namely, making the trip from the Delta Quadrant to Earth.
That was the focus of the show, and Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown will seek to deliver the entirety of the ill-fated Federation starship’s trip to players. It’s just that, again, this won’t be the same journey that you might remember from the small screen.
If it sounds like it might be something that could pique your interest though, read on.
Voyaging to retail
While the full Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown game is still a ways off, PC-playing fans can indeed try it right now. That’s thanks to a Steam demo, which has launched today for Valve’s PC gaming platform. The early look at the title should give players a chance to experience at least some of the game’s action.
Now, unfortunately we’re not sure of what’s included in that demo. We haven’t played it just yet. Still, we imagine that there might be at least some of the resource-managing, course-setting, and decision making that’s promised for the full game.
And if you’re a Trek fan who’s looking for a chance to get back into Roddenberry’s universe, it is free to check out.
There’s no release date just yet for Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown, but it’s expected to hit the PC some time soon.
