Rogue Sun‘s Caleb Hawthorne is set to collide with the Medieval Spawn. The crossover action hits the Image title next month.
Spawn, but not the one you think
Well, well, what have we got here? If we didn’t know better, we’d say it was a good old fashioned crossover of the Image Comics kind. Actually, that’s just what it is, even though those don’t exactly happen every day anymore.
Ryan Parrott, Nick Cotton, and Abel’s medieval action title Rogue Sun will welcome in Sir John of York with its thirtieth issue. And if you’re not sure who the latter is, he would be the aforementioned Medieval Spawn. Rogue Sun‘s Hawthorne, the hero known as the Knight Sun, will track down York to combat a fresh evil that’s bubbled up in olde England.
Of course, things being as they are in comics, things don’t exactly go the best when they first meet face-to-face.

In Rogue Sun #30, travel back to the year 1383 as Sir John of York—also known as the Medieval Spawn—embarks on a deadly quest to track down the monstrous entity known as The Withered. But he’s not alone. Caleb Hawthorne—the legendary Knight Sun—and his loyal squire are also on the hunt, setting the stage for an epic clash between two iconic heroes from the Image Comics universe. Will Medieval Spawn complete his mission—or will Knight Sun stand in his way? Readers won’t want to miss this historic face-off in one of the most anticipated issues of Rogue Sun yet.

A milestone for the dark-ages tale
Though the book has already had a lengthy history, this might be the biggest tale to hit the pages of Rogue Sun yet. Seeing Medieval Spawn in the pages of the book in question is also something that the title’s creator Ryan Parrott has been hoping for, for a while.
“When I first created Knight Sun, a medieval legacy version of Rogue Sun, I’d be lying if a part of me wasn’t secretly hoping that, one day, just maybe they might encounter Medieval Spawn,” said Parrott. “I knew it was probably impossible, but… here we are. Todd [McFarlane], Thomas [Healy], and everyone at Todd McFarlane Productions have been so generous, it really was an absolute dream to bring this crossover to life.”

While this issue looks like it’ll have an impact, Rogue Sun already has quite the catalogue of past adventures. And if you’re setting up to be a new reader and you’d like to plumb those depths, Image has you covered.
