Today’s Nintendo Direct saw the surprise announcement of a trio of horror titles for the Switch 2. And that includes Resident Evil Requiem.
Resident Eeeeeeeevil
There was a lot to talk about this morning, as goes the most recent Nintendo Direct presentation. The show was an hour long and contained a massive amount of Super Mario, plus Metroid Prime 4 and the Virtual Boy news. Aside from the headliners though, there was a host of additional information on high upcoming titles. And in with that mix, was the reveal that Resident Evil is coming too.
Capcom shocked fans during the Direct, by revealing that the upcoming ninth installment of the horror series would appear on Switch 2. That’s right, Resident Evil Requiem is set to land on Nintendo’s recent console this February.
The game will bring players back to a crumbled Raccoon City, where the outbreak first started. In it, fans will take control of Grace Ashcroft, a new face for the franchise, but one that’s related to Alyssa Ashcroft. It’ll be a return to the more horror aspects of the property as well, with fear playing a huge part in the action.
RE9 is just the beginning though, as the title won’t be the only Resident Evil game making its presence felt. February is gonna be a busy month for horror-loving Switch 2 owners.
The horror returns to a Nintendo console
Set approximately 30 years after the outbreak in Raccoon City, Resident Evil Requiem follows Grace on a new case where the young FBI analyst must escape from the horrors surrounding her and face the tragic memories from the death of her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft. This new era of survival horror is creeping to Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on February 27, 2026.
Capcom press release
As you can see above, all three of the Resident Evil titles that are on the way will land on the same day. That’ll be February 27th, 2026, which also happens to be the official multiplatform launch for Resident Evil Requiem.
