Fans of classically styled FPS’ rejoice. Boomstock is coming back for its sophomore year, hitting Steam this month.
BOOM
Did you enjoy last year’s Boomstock? The Steam-based event was a celebration of so-called “Boomer Shooters”. If you’re out of the loop, those are really just classically styled first-person shooters, like the ones that you might’ve played back in the 90s. If you’re hip to the lingo though, and enjoyed what Boomstock served up, you’ll be happy to know that it’s coming back for round 2.
Fulqrum Publishing made the reveal today, announcing that Boomstock 2025 would be kicking off on Steam later this month. Unfortunately, we don’t have too much to report as to details just yet. Those are yet to be made official, but this year’s Boomstock sounds like a beast. The event will count some 170 games under its umbrella, hailing from over 150 developers and publishers. Now that’s chunky (or maybe gibby?).
According to Fulqrum, genre fans can expect “demos, new title reveals and trailers, insane Steam sale discounts of up to 85%, competitions and giveaways, and even in-game events for some titles”. Boomstock will factor titles from Fulqrum into the above obviously, but also games from plenty of other big names. Those include “Devolver Digital, Apogee Entertainment, New Blood Interactive, Byte Barrel, Hyperstrange and many others”, according to the press release.
Taking place on the Steam platform, Boomstock will kick off at 10am pacific time on September 23rd and close up shop at the same time on the 27th. Stay tuned Boom-fans, there’s more to come on this one.
