Still very much on the way back is classic publisher Acclaim, and the company just issued some hints for what fans can expect.
From Acclaim
Anybody who was playing video games back in the 90s (or the 80s) could tell you all about Acclaim. A storied publisher with dozens of games under its belt, Acclaim was a staple all the way from the 8bit era through the 32bit. The company had some massive licenses during those years too, like WWF (now WWE), Mortal Kombat, The Simpsons, Marvel, NBA JAM, Double Dragon, and tons more.
By the early 2k’s though, the brand vanished, and stayed that way up until earlier this very year. It was then that the Acclaim announced a comeback, with Russell Binder, Mark Caplan, and wrestling great Jeff Jarrett at the helm. That big reveal was in March, and since then we haven’t heard much of anything. Well, if you’ve been patiently waiting for more word from the legendary name, you’re in luck.
As of today, the publisher says that fans should get “ready for big news coming from Acclaim!” So with that, we’re thinking that something about the first games resulting from this comeback should be coming sooner than later. It does seem to us too, that the company is taking its time, and getting a slate of titles ready for a larger in scope reveal. Sounds like the way to go, if they’re looking to make a splash.
Read on for the rest of today’s announcement in full, and we’ll have anything more for you about Acclaim as soon as news breaks.
