Superman flying to digital on August 15th, physical media in September

The blockbuster DC Comics’ film is coming home, as Superman heads to digital this month and arrives on disc in September.

One of the biggest movies of the year, Superman arrived this summer to kick off DC’s new (and rebooted) film universe. Landing in theaters on July 11th, the movie did well for itself, and presently sits at a global total that’s just shy of $600 million USD.

When Superman is drawn into conflicts both abroad and at home, his actions to protect humankind are questioned, and his vulnerability allows tech billionaire and master deceiver Lex Luthor to leverage the opportunity to get Superman out of the way for good.  Will the Daily Planet’s intrepid reporter Lois Lane, together with the aid of Metropolis’s other metahumans and Superman’s own four-legged companion, Krypto, be able to help Superman before Luthor can completely destroy him?

We should probably say there that it’s ‘still’ doing well for itself there though, since the film is actually still in theaters. As usual with today’s movie biz, that’s not going to stop a home video release though. Warner Bros Discovery announced today that the movie’s home debut had actually been moved up too, and it’ll now be arriving this very week, on August 15th.

As for where you’ll be able to catch it, for now we know that “Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Fandango at Home, and more” will all be stocking it. What the “and more” will include, we’re not terribly sure, so check in with your favored shop before you buy. You never know.

On the other hand, if you prefer a disc-based experience, Superman will have you covered there as well. Just don’t look for it this week. Coming up almost as fast as the digital version however, is the 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD release for the film. That will be heading to stores in a little over a month, on September 23rd.

Special features? There’ll be a bunch

As usual with almost all of the bigger flicks that come home, Superman will be packing much more than the film itself. Fans will be able to find all kinds of extras included, and no matter which platform they choose.
