Heading to Gamescom this month is iMP Gaming’s Mini Arcade PRO, set to deliver a classically-styled experience for Switch fans.
Old school fun
Have you ever looked at your Nintendo Switch and thought you’d like to have a little arcade cabinet to pop it into? It kind of seems like an idea that someone would have thought of by now, doesn’t it? To our knowledge, that hasn’t been the case, unless you’re counting cardboard. If the form-factor sounds like a good idea to you, we’ve got some good news.
Just announced by iMP Gaming, the Mini Arcade PRO is one such device, and it’s sporting some slick features. This tabletop arcade cab allows users to plug in a Switch, Switch 2, or Switch OLED (via USB-C) to instantly deliver an arcade-like experience. Oh, and it’s crafted from ABS material, not paper. Important distinction there.

Ideal for arcade titles, shooters, fighters, retro and so much more, the Mini Arcade PRO is a high-quality, cost-effective way to recreate the genuine arcade feel of gaming’s golden era, utilizing players’ own Nintendo Switch 1 or 2 (not included), instantly enhancing a chosen game and providing speedy, accurate controls for arcade enthusiasts.
iMP Gaming press release
iMP’s Mini Arcade PRO sounds like it’s sporting all the bells and whistles too. The company says players should expect a “real Ball-Top Joystick with micro-switched, steel shaft engineering, and authentic eight-button configuration Action Buttons”.
There’s also an interesting mechanic in play, that allows players to “dynamically” change the input of the joystick. Users can actually toggle between “D-Pad, left, or right Thumbstick control”. That should give the Mini Arcade PRO a greater adaptability, allowing it to be used with a good chunk of Switch games. Speaking of, there’s even a neat little storage solution for game cards built-into the unit. Users will find storage for up to 12 of the little cards on its back.

Unfortunately pricing hasn’t been revealed yet for the Mini Arcade PRO, though we assume that’s common up soon enough. Worth noting however, is that iMP Gaming says that it’ll be a “cost-effective way to recreate the genuine arcade feel of gaming’s golden era”. So we’ll take that as a hint.
As mentioned, the unit will be making its first public appearance at Gamescom this month, and it’ll ship for the Holidays.
