Sideshow’s Scum & Villainy collection is growing with Walrusman himself, as Ponda Baba gets an unboxing from the retailer.
He doesn’t like you either!
Playing off of the same cantina scene that the just-unboxed Greedo figure hails from, Ponda Baba is another iconic Episode 4 alien. Who could forget that scene after all, when we got our first glimpse of a lightsaber actually in use, thanks to Ben Kenobi. Well, thanks to Ben and the Aqualish in question.
And speaking of, old Ponda is the next figure in Sideshow’s Scum & Villainy collection. The surly bar-fly includes his signature blaster, and the Exclusive Edition even stocks a series of swappable hands. You guessed it, those are the ones from the film’s alternate takes, and have those giant unwieldy flippers on display.
Check out the unboxing and official rundown below.
Sideshow’s Scum & Villainy line of high-end collectibles shines a spotlight on the dark underbelly of the Star Wars galaxy, showcasing nefarious outlaws, dangerous bounty hunters, and menacing mercenaries.
Inspired by the character’s appearance in Star Wars: A New Hope™, the Ponda Baba™ 1/6 Scale High-End Collectible Figure features an expertly crafted portrait with gray skin, bulbous black eyes, and curled tusks. This fully articulated, highly poseable sixth scale figure wears a cut and sew fabric costume including brown pants, black boots, a light gray shirt, and a bright orange jacket. The Ponda Baba™ 1/6 Scale High-End Collectible Figure comes with a blaster, a blaster holster, and three alternate, swap-out hands featuring Ponda’s viciously clawed fingers.
The Ponda Baba™ 1/6 Scale High-End Collectible Figure by Sideshow is available to pre-order now from Sideshow.com.
Sideshow press release
As mentioned, this Ponda Baba figure has a pair of editions from Sideshow. There’s the Collector’s Edition, which is more or less the standard, and the Exclusive. Both are priced the same at Sideshow, and both are set to ship soon. But it’s that latter one that includes the set of flipper hands on top of Ponda’s standard clawed-mitts.
There’s a cool little bonus too, as one of those flippers includes a magnetic feature to hold onto his blaster. So while he should probably think twice about who he picks a fight with, the ill-fated ruffian can still draw down on his fellow cantina patrons.
