Marvel Comics unleashes the covers for Doomed 2099

Get a peek at the cover illustrations coming up for July’s Marvel Comics one-shot, bringing together two generations of Doom in Doomed 2099.

To Doom or not to Doom

Doctor Doom is in command of the Marvel Universe, but is he ready to face a new challenge all the way from the year 2099? If you’ve been following along with what Marvel Comics has been doing lately, you know what we’re referring to there, with the One World Under Doom storyline that’s currently ongoing. But while that’s set to continue into the fall, there’s a special one-shot coming up next month that’s going to tie into it.

That would be Doomed 2099, from the team of writer Frank Tieri and artists Delio Diaz and Frank Alpizara. We can’t say for certain what the story will hold, since Marvel is a tad coy about the plot, but it’ll most definitely include two Doctor Dooms. From where we sit, when two Dooms get together, there isn’t a castle on Earth that’d be big enough for the egos.

We first reported on Doomed 2099 a short time back, but now Marvel has released both the official cover and variant illustrations for the book, plus a short unlettered preview. So if you’re hyped for double the Doom, you can check that out below with some great artwork from Delio Diaz and Frank Alpizar.

THE FUTURE IS DOOMED! 

The world is Doom’s…but does that include the world that is yet to be? A coalition from the future – including Old Man Logan, Rachel Summers, the Phoenix; Bishop, Cosmic Ghost Rider, the Maestro and Deathlok say otherwise. But will the arrival of Doom 2099 change the odds for the new Sorcerer Supreme? Is he there to back his past self…or destroy him forever?

“Look, I’ve widely been known as a ‘villains guy’ throughout my career so naturally when Marvel approached me to work on this event with not one but two of the greatest baddies of all time, well… it was an offer I couldn’t refuse, as they say,” Tieri shared. “And you’re not only getting ‘Double the Doom’ with this one shot, kids… ‘cause 2099’s bringing some friends from the future to even the odds! So is Doom 2099 looking to become the new Sorcerer Supreme? Or is his mission much more disturbing than that? I think fans will be surprised at the answer.”
