First full Superman trailer is packed with action, and some hints at the first DCU film’s story

We got a little better of an idea as to what’ll be happening in the first big screen foray for the new DCU, with today’s trailer for Superman.

All the way from the red sun of Krypton

While we’d seen a teaser up to now, comics fans still hadn’t gotten a full trailer for DC Studios’ Superman. From director James Gunn, the latest Superman film debuts in theaters this July, and sets the stage for Gunn and Peter Safran’s almost complete renovation of the DC Universe on film. So to say that it’s kind of a big deal is probably an understatement. Today’s full length trailer took a lot of the mystery out of the movie however, and we mean that in a good way.

Not only did the action look great, but there were tons of hints included as to what the movie’s tale will actually be. There’s what looks to be a metahuman prison of sorts, where Superman is taken after the fallout from him intervening in a global event. From what we’ve seen, we’re thinking that he’s kept in a low-power state thanks to Metamorpho’s presence. He is able to mimic Kryptonite, after all.

Aside from that, there’s also some great character stuff included in this first real look at the film, as we see more of Clark Kent and Lois, as well as the Kent family. Naturally too, there’s lots of Lex Luthor, plus an assortment of various super-villains, all out to put the hurt on the big guy. Some of them we think we recognize, and some seem altogether new.

If you’re a fan of the iconic superhero though, there’s a lot more to like here than there was in the teaser… and we don’t mean just because of the running time.

From Warner Bros and DC Studios, Superman stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult. Look for it to fly into theaters this July the 11th.
