Marvel and TASCHEN present the earliest adventures of The Hulk in upcoming collector tome

Presenting The Hulk’s first thunderous steps in the Marvel Universe is TASCHEN, with Marvel Comics Library. Hulk. 1962–1966.

SMASH

One of Marvel’s most iconic characters, The Hulk is arguably as important to the iconic company’s Universe as the likes of Spider-Man, Wolverine, or Captain America. He’s been around for a long, long time at this point too, having first appeared in the pages of 1962’s The Incredible Hulk.

Of course, the big guy has been through multiple changes in the decades since that issue hit stands, but those first few adventures set the stage for what would be a legendary run that’s still going today. And, as it happens, they are the focal point for an upcoming title from legendary book company TASCHEN.

The publisher is preparing a collector book dubbed Marvel Comics Library. Hulk. 1962–1966. From Douglas Wolk, the book will be packed with Hulk history, plus reproductions of the first six issues of that classic title.

Unquestionably one of Marvel’s most powerful and enigmatic figures— The Hulk is an unstoppable force of rage, primal instinct, and atomic power. Often at odds with heroes, villains, the military, and even Bruce Banner himself, he embodies humanity’s fury and hubris, a modern Prometheus who will never stop smashing.

Featuring The Incredible Hulk Nos. 1–6 plus an introduction by pop-culture and comic scholar Douglas Wolk, the book is meticulously researched and adorned with rarely seen original art, photos, and paraphernalia showcasing the Hulk’s lasting impact on global culture.

All issues have been photographed using TASCHEN’s sterling reproduction methods, resembling the way these comics first looked when initially published, while also being digitally remastered using modern retouching techniques to correct problems with the era’s inexpensive, imperfect printing. The book is available as both a Collector’s Edition of 1,000 numbered copies (£500) and an XXL unlimited edition (£175).

TASCHEN press release

Marvel Comics Library. Hulk. 1962–1966 clocks in at a monstrous 670 pages, and the hardcover title is up for pre-order now via TASCHEN’s online shop, with a May shipping estimate. It’s just the latest in the line from the publisher too, with Spidey, X-Men, two Avengers tomes, and more all already available.
