Capcom has revealed that it’s worked out Xbox launches for both of its big upcoming fighting game collections.
Xbox action
If you missed the news, Xbox is getting in on the Capcom fighting action after all, though that was far from a sure bet not all that long ago. It might sound odd, but when the publisher revealed both MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics and Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the games were en route for the PS4, Switch, and PC.
Both collections were absolutely loaded to the gills with classic Capcom fighting games (and then some), including some that haven’t been seen in years. So at the time anyway, it was a pretty big bummer for Xbox players.
The collections will include:
MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics
- X-MEN CHILDREN OF THE ATOM
- MARVEL SUPER HEROES
- X-MEN VS. STREET FIGHTER
- MARVEL SUPER HEROES vs. STREET FIGHTER
- MARVEL vs. CAPCOM CLASH OF SUPER HEROES
- MARVEL vs. CAPCOM 2 New Age of Heroes
- THE PUNISHER
Capcom Fighting Collection 2
- Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Pro
- Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001
- Capcom Fighting Evolution
- Street Fighter Alpha 3 UPPER
- Project Justice
- Power Stone
- Power Stone 2
- Plasma Sword: Nightmare of Bilstein
While those sets are pretty slick, again any kind of Xbox versions were left off of the initial announcements. At the time, we had no idea why either, and while we still don’t, whatever the holdup was has definitely been seen to, and both will be coming for Microsoft’s Xbox One.
Yes, Xbox One, just like with the Sony versions of the two games, the Xbox editions will be last-gen releases. We still don’t quite get that choice, but the two should play fine on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so we suppose it really doesn’t matter.
One caveat to all of this Xbox-news though, is that players won’t be able to play either game on their consoles until some time next year. Yep, while both digital and physical versions will arrive for the Switch and PS4 this fall (with the PC getting digital only, natch’), MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics and Capcom Fighting Collection 2 won’t be along for Microsoft’s console til some time in 2025.
