You might’ve seen Cybertronian origin stories before, but Transformers One will be the first feature film to tackle the iconic bots’ distant past.
Say hi to Orion Pax
Transformers fans well know the basis for what’s inarguably the most famed era of the fictional universe, Generation One. While it’s been a core fiction for Transformers in general, it’s also the rough base for the film series, originally brought to screens by Michael Bay and soft-rebooted with 2018’s Bumblebee movie.
Now there’s another film set to debut this summer, though it’s of a different kind than anything that we’ve seen recently. Mainly that’s due to the fact that there are no human characters in what will be the first ever, fully CG Transformers flick. And as you might have guessed from the above info too, it also is set to take place completely on Cybertron.
Produced by Don Murphy / Tom DeSanto, di Bonaventura Pictures, and Bay Films, Transformers One will lay out an origin story for both Optimus Prime and Megatron, showing how the two went from being brothers to bitter foes. Along the way they’ll meet up with the bots that’ll become Bumblebee and Arcee, plus learn a few things about being Cybertronian, like transforming for the first time.
As you’ll see in the first look at the film however, fans should not expect a heavy tone to this beginning of the Cybertronian war. While we’ve seen that in video games and comics before, Transformers One will retain a much more lighthearted feel.
TRANSFORMERS ONE is the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever. In the first-ever fully CG-animated Transformers movie, TRANSFORMERS ONE features a star-studded voice cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, with Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm.
Paramount Pictures press release
