The stage of history is re-set, Soul Calibur VI announced

Bandai Namco’s sourd still burns. Soul Calibur VI is officially on the way for consoles and PC in 2018.

Welcome back

“The fast and kinetic gameplay of SOULCALIBUR is on full display in SOULCALIBUR VI,” said Mark Religioso, Brand Manager for BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. “A stellar lineup of characters and weapons, combined with a simple control layout means gamers of all skill levels can jump into the action and decimate the competition.”

It’s been a while since Soul Calibur V. So to say that a sixth outing is welcome is probably something of an understatement. This a little extra cool too, given the story that Bandai Namco has cooked up. And it’s not a sequel by the way, even with that numbering, SC6 is a prequel/side-story.

Should Calibur VI takes the fighting game series’ narrative back to the time of the original. Set in the 1600’s, SC6 is set to explore unknown territory. Bandai Namco says the game will “revisit the events of the original SOULCALIBUR to uncover hidden truths”.

But don’t expect things to be the same as you remember, even though this is a recounting of events. You should expect more than just returning combatants like Mitsurugi and Sophitia too. Yep, there’ll be an assortment of new fighters too.

Obviously, there’s tons more info to come on Soul Calibur VI, including the release date. As of now however, we’ll be seeing it arrive sometime in 2018 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC (Steam).
