Some of the biggest indie hits are crossing over with Dead Cells

The looks and weaponry from a selection of indie games has headed to the hit rogue-like Dead Cells, including Hotline Miami, Shovel Knight and more.

Those monsters need a shoveling

Starting today, players can give The Beheaded some fancy, familiar-looking duds alongside new weapons and unique lore rooms. In a massive collaboration, Motion Twin and Evil Empire are bringing the stars of numerous indie hits such as *deep breath* Shovel KnightKatana ZEROSlay the SpireHotline MiamiRisk of Rain and Terraria into the dungeons on PC, with consoles coming later in November.

As you can see there, this new stuff isn’t just there for looks. The beheaded will get to brandish some new hardware as well, with signature weaponry from all of the games included appearing right alongside the outfits.

Those include:

  • Terraria – The Character – Starfury Sword
  • Hotline Miami – Jacket – Baseball Bat
  • Shovel Knight – Shovel Knight – King’s Scepter
  • Slay The Spire – The Ironclad – Diverse Deck
  • Katana Zero – Subject Zero – Throwable Objects
  • Risk of Rain – The Commando – Laser Glaive

Each one of those changes the game too. For example, the Hotline Miami baseball bat allows for massive damage by way of manic, brutal smashing of stunned opponents. Of course, getting these weapons isn’t just as easy as shooting to use ’em.

Players will have to decipher a fresh round of riddles back in the opening area of Dead Cells. If you can do that, and find you’re way to one of the new themed rooms, then you’re good to go.

All of this should be ready for play now in the PC edition of Dead Cells, with console versions coming up soon.
