Indie Metroidvania Velaster loads up with gruesome horror, tough gameplay

While it won’t be out for Halloween, Velaster from indie dev Engineer is looking like a pretty terrific, side-scrolling horror-soaked adventure.

Do a barrel roll

Up on Kickstarter right now, is Engineer’s horror side-scrolling action title Velaster. While we usually don’t cover Kickstarter titles, this one has a lot going for it, including some really sharp graphics, and what looks to be tough gameplay.

While it’s billed as a Metroidvania, Velaster will also sport Soulslike action, carrying that tag on the Steam listing for the game. As you’ll see in the trailer below, it’s no pushover.

VELASTER is a gruesome 2.5D side-scrolling action combat game set in the Middle-earth called Malum. You will find yourself growing in battles against various monsters and bosses. Take revenge that remains in your fading memories.

Velaster Steam Listing

There’s no release date as of yet for Velaster, but if you’d like a taste of what’s to come there is a demo. You can grab it via Steam, right here.
