Season 5 of Call of Duty: Vanguard’s zombies is creeping up

Set to arrive next week, Season 5 of Call of Duty: Vanguard’s zombies experience is looking like a major one, with the arrival of The Archon.

Hell comes to WWII-town

“The Construct. I always hated that thing. It sits outside the Natural Order, its motives unknowable to any of us. I cannot be certain, but it always seems like the Construct is trying to decide if Life itself is worthy of existence.”

Vercanna the Last

What you see above is the quote that leads off the blog post for Call of Duty’s latest zombies season. It’s creepy enough as it is, but then you see the abomination that’s been dubbed “The Archon”, it gets just a lil’ bit more so.

A gigantic beast from the pits of hell itself, The Archon is the headlining terror for season 5 of Vanguard’s zombies tale. But it’s not all that you’ll be facing in the new storyline, as the villainous Von List, the Kortifex, and lots and lots of zombies will be in there too.

All of that will be playing out in a new map that brings the experience to the sands of Egypt. Not just story content, the map will also offer up more of Vanguard’s reinvigorated “round-based” zombies action, as seen in Shi No Numa. So if you dig that, you should like season 5 even more.

While this is the end of the storyline for Vanguard’s ‘zombies’ tale though, it’s not quite the end of the content train. Black Ops’ Raul Menendez and Seraph will be coming to the mode as well, some time in the near future.

As for major content and season drops though, season 5 is it. Activision says the team will be “stepping back into the shadows to focus on what’s in store for the future”. Use your imagination as to what that might mean.

Season 5 of Call of Duty: Vanguard’s zombies arrives on August 24th for all platforms. You can read a ton more about it, including a pile of details, here on the official site.
