Microsoft today announced their quarterly sales for the Xbox 360 console and they are pretty impressive.
Microsoft’s manager of investor relations,Bill Koefoed, said:
“We sold 2.2 million Xbox 360 consoles, representing over 20 percent growth, as retailers stocked inventory ahead of the holiday season,”
In an interview with AFP, he also went on to say the console had outsold the Playstation 3 by 100,000 units. Whilst games sold for the console this year are lower, Microsoft put the blame on Halo as it was such a massive title. Sales could match last year come the release of Gears of War 2.
Are you one of the 2.2 million? Come tell us in our forums!
We all remember the fantastic Gears of War commercial that was released during the promotion of the original title. The advert sent Mad Word straight back to the charts and was a highly acclaimed commercial.
It seems Microsoft and Epic have done it again with another fantastic commercial for the release of Gears of War 2 next month. The song is called “How It Ends” by DeVotchka. Could it be a hint as to the outcome of the story perhaps?

The world can be a strange place at times, and stories like this always induce a “WTF?” moment.
A Japanese woman was jailed after deleting her cyber-husband’s character in a game called MapleStory.
Maplestory, a popular 2D MMORPG, allows players to get hitched to other players within the game and with marriage comes possible divorce.
It seems the 43-year old piano teacher got upset when the player divorced her, leading her to log on with his details and delete his prized character – a sort of “online crime of passion”.
Whilst the woman hasn’t actually committed a real murder, she has been charged with stealing passwords to gain unauthorized access an account.
Now, if only the game had a justice system….

Sony today announced they were reducing their earnings forecast by 38% as a result of the world’s current financial state.
With the economy not looking so great around the world at the moment it is only natural Sony get affected this way. Many industries around the world are being hit hard and Sony have cited the world’s current economy for the reduction.

Sony Marketing and Public Relations Manager Mark Levitan had admited that the third-party games are seeing a massive shake up. Gone are the days of console exclusivity with third-pary developers as more and more exclusives appear on multiple consoles.

Today Microsoft and RARE officially announced something that everyone else but them seemingly knew.
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts will officially launch its way onto the Xbox 360 on 14th November. This comes despite the fact all major retailers had this date weeks ago. Why RARE left it so late to confirm a release date is beyond me but at least I know I will still be getting my pre-order then.
However, Banjo has some stiff competition, with Blizzard’s Wrath of the Litch King being released the day before. Check back here soon for the official Brutal Gamer review.

Even before opening in the UK, the new Max Payne movie starring Mark Wahlberg is getting off to a slow start (geek pun intended).

Whilst on the Internet I decided to look into the world’s tallest building (don’t ask why!). I came across a tower called in Dubai called the Mubarak al-Kabir Tower which all seemed very nice and smart…
…then I saw the picture!
