Expeditions: Rome gets new trailer, demo, and streaming event

It’s going to be a big weekend for those looking forward to Expeditions: Rome. The sword and sandals cRPG gets a demo and a lot more.

Lesbos

Yes Lesbos, as in the Greek ‘isle of’, which is featured in the new demo for Expeditions: Rome. The cRPG’s first playable incarnation is set to go live tomorrow on Steam, and offers up the chance for players to conquer the first of many Grecian lands.

All together, the demo should equate to about 4 hours of gameplay too, so it’s a pretty good look at the game in action. You can grab a copy of that right here. But before you do that, make sure you check out the latest trailer below.

Don’t forget that stream

On top of the fresh look at the game, and the actual demo, there’s also a stream coming. That’s set to land this weekend, across a bunch of Twitch channels. Far from your usual presentation, this stream is set to be one of the most interactive ever put on.

Via a Twitch extension, viewers will actually be able to interact with the game. And from the sound of it, it’s pretty impressive stuff.

During Rome’s turn-based combat, audiences can direct AI targets, heal or knock-down both enemy and streamer combatants, re-name units with their TwitchID, set fire to the battlefield, and much much more. Streamers can ask for help or beg for mercy as the audience directly influences how challenging or easy each combat encounter can be at every step of the process. And even outside of combat, the audience can interact heavily with their favorite streamer: vote about choices in dialogues, check the stats of the streamers party, read the quest log to get caught up on the current goals, even send care packages – there is so much possible interactivity, Expeditions: Rome will move the border between single-player and multi-player experience. People will not only be watching and chatting with their streamers, they will play together.

THQ Nordic

Things kickoff tomorrow, December 17th, and will run through Monday, December 20th. Scroll down for the current list of channels, though there may be more signed on by the time the show goes live. THQ Nordic is actually still taking applications, if you’d like to jump on board too. You can apply here.

Expeditions: Rome arrives on the PC this January the 20th.
