Marvel’s Mutants got to space in Secret X-Men this February

Yes, it’s really called Secret X-Men, but this book actually sounds pretty cool. They’re going to space, on a collision course with the foes of the Shi’ar.

Space!

Nothing new for the X-Men, the team is astro-bound once more, and once again teaming up with the alien Shi’ar Empire. What is new, aside from the story, is that the team that’s heading into the infinite is a little unorthodox.

For one thing, the roster reads like a mix-and-match of classic X-teams. Cannonball and Sunspot lead the crew, with the likes of Strong Guy, Marrow, Forge, and Banshee in tow. Yeah, somehow either Forge or Banshee aren’t leading it. Not sure how that happened. In any event, the makeup of the team did not happen, strange as it might sound, by accident.

Members were chosen by an online vote to pick the next X-Men team. More precisely, they were the runners up to the mutants that actually made the squad. So they’re basically the second string, though that doesn’t mean that these guys and gals don’t have fans.

Or an important first mission.

When the Shi’ar Empire faces an unexpected threat, they must call upon the X-Men. Team co-captains Sunspot and Cannonball will lead Marrow, Tempo, Forge, Banshee, Strong Guy, Armor, and Boom-Boom on a dangerous mission to save a figure of paramount importance—the daughter of Professor X and empress of the Shi’ar: Xandra!
