No, that’s not a misspelling, Wispons are riffs on the Color Powers from Sonic Colors, and what you’ll be wielding in Forces.
All new Sonic
A fresh dose of screenshots reveal some interesting new elements for Sonic Forces, Sega’s second Sonic title of 2017. In the game, players are able to create Hero Characters, which are custom heroes made in the Sonic mold.
Those heroes are then able to make use of Sonic Colors-type weapons called Wispons. According to Sega, Wispons “double as both offensive abilities and as a way to platform through levels quickly”.
The Drill Wispon is shown here in this new batch of screens from the upcoming game. The Drill gives gamers the ability to “drill dash on the ground to quickly traverse stages and climb walls”. As you might imagine, you can also attack enemies with the Drill, smashing right through them.
Get a look at this mighty spinner in action in the screens below, and also a peek at a new Hero stage. It’s taking a while to get here, but Sonic Forces is looking so far like it might be a worthy followup to Colors and Generations.
