Super Mario powers up with LeSportsac for new line of Nintendo bags

Bag-maker LeSportsac has a brand new lineup of Nintendo-themed bags and backpacks. Time to power up.

There’s something magical about seeing Nintendo branding on stuff, specially when it’s done well. It’s not just from being a fan either. I can remember a time back in the heyday of the NES that it was super rare to see Nintendo anything.

That might not make sense to a fan today, since everything is branded into oblivion, but it’s true. Sure there were Nintendo tees and collectibles, but they were painfully few and far between. So whenever I see a Nintendo anything these days, I love it a little more than I probably should.

Take this selection of LeSportsac bags for instance. I have zero use for most of this, but I love all of it. Some of it’s pretty clearly not made for me either. Though I do have to say I’m digging that Gameboy pouch a lot.

The collaboration features two unique designs created exclusively for the LeSportsac X Nintendo collection. Power-Up Burst is a colorful homage to Mario’s iconic power-up items and classic foes, including Fire Flowers, Super Mushrooms, 1-Up Mushrooms, Super Stars, coins, Goombas and Koopas. The Mario Travel print portrays playful Mushroom Kingdom-inspired travel memorabilia, such as luggage tags, passport stamps and postcards on a bright red background.

Complementing the collection are five additional items, including an authentic pouch shaped like the Game Boy system, a round Piranha Plant pouch, and a Super Mario Bros. cosmetic. All styles will showcase a custom Super Mario coin zipper pull – because it is all about collecting those coins!

Indeed it is. For Nintendo and LeSportsac, it most definitely is. I can’t imagine these not being hits when they finally arrive at retail. Speaking of, the bags arrive on July 19th in Japan. As for the rest of the globe, they’ll be seeing release there as well, but not till the Autumn. So keep your eyes open for them.
