Nintendo is ready to talk to Hollywood again

It looks like the stink of the Super Mario Bros movie has officially wafted away, as Nintendo just might be ready to think about making movies out of their catalog of properties again.

While he certainly didn’t confirm anything, Nintendo’s resident legend and creative genius Shigeru Miyamoto has gone not he record as saying that the company will “potentially be looking at things like movies in the future.”

For a long time of course, Nintendo wasn’t interested in the least about films or even being remotely associated with them. That attitude seemed to set in a long time ago, after the launches of both the failed Mario Bros movie and The Wizard, which was basically a vehicle to showcase Super Mario Bros 3. So what prompted the change then?

Miyamoto told Fortune magazine that they’ve (Nintendo) had “a number of people who have come to us and said ‘Why don’t we make a movie together – or we make a movie and you make a game and we’ll release them at the same time?’” A little old fashioned wearing-down, coupled with Nintendo dipping their toe into the movie waters with films like Wreckit Ralph and Pixels, seems to have done the trick.

Again though, nothing is solid at all, and that Legend of Zelda series on Netflix isn’t back on the drawing boards… but who knows, it just might be some time soon. Read more at the link below.
