Deus Ex: Mankind Divided official, looks awesome

Just a rumor about a day and a half ago, the next game in the Deus Ex series is now officially Mankind Divided. Ready to get augmented one more time?

I’m not sure how much of that trailer (if anything) was actual gameplay, or at least in-engine, but it looks absolutely incredible. As you can see too, cybernetic badass Adam Jensen will indeed once again star in the game, and will have some very interesting new toys to play with… though the cyber-sunglasses might still be my favorite of his robotic enhancements.

Picking up in 2029, which is two years after the events of Human Revolution and the Aug Incident, Mankind Divided will set humans versus the enhanced in a  kind of civil war. Persecution runs rampant as the ‘normal’ people of the world put the clamps on the cyborgs among them in a story that’s framed by a global conspiracy and the people pulling its strings, the Illuminati.

Developer Eidos-Montreal is promising a lot with this one, in both story and content. Running on the Dawn engine, Mankind Divided is set to be the best looking Deus Ex yet, and offer freedom to engage the game’s world as you see fit.

“For 15 years, Deus Ex has been a point of conversation across the games industry and beyond, whether the topic is the franchise’s unique gameplay or topical narrative focused on advanced biotechnology and human augmentation,” said David Anfossi, Head of Studio, Eidos-Montréal. “What began with Deus Ex: Human Revolution goes to a whole new level in Deus Ex:Mankind Divided, diving even deeper into this discussion and, in turn, offering fans an all-encompassing experience, one which will challenge their skills as players and emphasize decision-making based on real world topics.”

We’ll have plenty more on this one in the months to come, including a release date, which has yet to be announced. In the meantime, there’ll be more about Deus Ex: Mankind Divided in the May issue of Game Informer, so grab that when you get the chance. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to watch that trailer another few dozen times.
