Activision’s Guitar Hero might be on the way back to a reunion tour

With the news that Rock Band is returning for a long-awaited fourth outing, it looks like Activision is getting set for another battle of the bands with a brand new Guitar Hero game, or something all-new.

Website Polygon caught a report published to a site called Gamereactor UK, before it was yanked yesterday, that basically confirmed that Activision is working on another rhythm game. The company invited various German media outlets to a little shindig on April 1st. Not looking like the April Fool’s joke that you might automatically think it is, the invite went on to say that the event will be in ‘Hamburg Rock City’ and that attendees should be ready to “rock the shack”.

There were already rumors swirling that a new Guitar Hero was in the works, and with Rock Band now confirmed to be heading back to consoles, it’s very believable indeed that Activision has a resurrection in store for the formerly beloved series. Right now though, all of this is still living in the land of rumor and innuendo, but we’ll have the official word as soon as it’s more than second hand.
