Resident Evil 7 will blow your mind… maybe

According to Resident Evil Revelations 2’s producer, the next game in the main RE series is going to be pretty awesome. Not that he’s seen it, or knows anything about it that is.

So maybe take this one with a grain of salt then? Even if it’s second hand, from someone who barely knows anything about the project though, it’s nice to hear that someone is bullish on the next numbered installment of the Resident Evil series.

Capcom’s longrunning horror franchise has been the brunt of some fan-beatings in the last few years, specially since the release of RE6 was met with more than a little public ennui. Though the game had some solid review scores and didn’t exactly get a bad critical response, it almost completely failed to capture the attention of the fan base. And that’s something that the publisher wants to put an end to.

According to Michiteru Okabe, the producer of the forthcoming Resident Evil Revelations 2, that’s just what they’re going to do. Admitting that he hasn’t seen anything on the game internally, he’s ” confident that those guys are going to do something that’s going to blow our minds”, when speaking about the dev team hard at work on RE7.

S,o, will the next Resident Evil meet with fan approval at long last, or will is flounder and try to please too many different camps once again? What do you think? Do you have hope for the future of what was at one time the best survival/horror franchise around?
