Dark Horse’s Polar: Came from the Cold headed to the big screen

The story of a hit man in need of redemption and on the wrong end of a new generation of bad guys blasts into theaters.

The adrenaline-pumping action-thriller tells the story of Black Kaiser, a master assassin forced out of retirement when he finds himself the target of a motley crew of new generation hitmen. But Kaiser’s gun-blazing and bloody universe is at odds with the doting and protective relationship he has with the child of one of his former marks. Faced with the ultimate battle for survival, Kaiser must choose between saving his life and saving his soul.

Victor Santos’ Polar is something of a modern classic, garnering all sorts of critical acclaim and a sizable fan base. Thanks to Constantin Films, that audience is about to get a lot bigger as the book is set to be a major motion picture some time in the next few years.

Valentin Films grabbed the spec script, which was penned by Jayson Rothwell, and hopes to shoot the gritty action epic in Spring 2015, with theatrical release coming some time after. Robert Kulzer and Jeremy Bolt will be handling the production chores on Valentin’s behalf, and will team up with Dark Horse boss Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg to round out a producing foursome.
