Attilan rises next Summer – the Inhumans are back

Did you think that Marvel’s Inhumans were getting brushed aside with all the talk of the revisiting classic crossover events next year? Think again.

Now, mind you this is only a teaser, so there’s really nothing to talk about yet other than the image that was released today. The image in question though, is a doozy. While Lockjaw is conspicuously absent from said pic, we do have Inhuman royalty in the form of Black Bolt and Medusa standing with some of the more well-known of the group.

Even more interesting is what they’re standing over of course- the bodies of X-Men and Avengers alike including Cyclops, Superior Iron Man, Hulk (well, his hand), Magneto (who kind of looks like ‘concept art’ Boba Fett), and Captain America’s shield. This is the first tease for something that’s not related to any former crossover like Secret Wars or Days Years of Future Past too, which is also notable.

Though, I have to wonder if it indeed isn’t related in some way. With a massive event in the works (which all those former crossovers are no doubt a part) it seems odd that Marvel would chuck in another new marquee book that’s not linked in some way. Personally, I doubt that the Inhumans are the bad guys here, despite what the cover would have you believe, and have to wonder if the rank and file heroes (as they stand now) in the Marvel U can’t get the job done against whatever is threatening to tear up their reality (which is what I think is to be the main focus of next Summer’s crossover). That would be the perfect cue for the Inhumans and their new legion of members (remember what happened in Infinity?) to step up to the plate.

We shall see though, as things are sure to get better detailed as we get a little closer to two seasons from now. For now, let the guessing commence.
